The Weekly Standard Celebrates Sarah Palin's "Eye-Popping Integrity"

I sent the following piece to a number of media people in the Pittsburgh, PA area and elsewhere:

I know some journalists have considered my strong advocacy of Gov. Sarah Palin to be "Maloney's Folly," but I wanted to call your attention to a remarkable article by Fred Barnes, executive editor of The Weekly Standard, available in the 07/16 edition of TWS and entitled: "The Most Popular Governor: Alaska's Sarah Palin is the GOP's Newest Star." The link is: The Most Popular Governor

The following are the first two paragraphs in Fred Barnes's piece:

"The wipeout in the 2006 election left Republicans in such a state of dejection that they've overlooked the one shining victory in which a Republican star was born. The triumph came in Alaska where Sarah Palin, a politician of eye-popping integrity, was elected governor. She is now the most popular governor in America, with an approval rating in the 90s, and probably the most popular public official in any state."

"Her rise is a great (and rare) story of how adherence to principle--especially to transparency and accountability in government--can produce political success. And by the way, Palin is a conservative who only last month vetoed 13 percent of the state's proposed budget for capital projects. The cuts, the Anchorage Daily News said, 'may be the biggest single-year line-item veto total in state history.'"

I'm one of many shameless promoters of Sarah Palin as the best of all possible candidates for V-P on the Republican ticket in 2008. If you're interested in writing on Sarah -- and I hope you are -- you can find good material on her state website, as well as in the Anchorage Daily News (http://adn.com) and various blogs, including the original site supporting her (http://palinforvp.blogspot.com/), my site (http://camp2008victorya.blogspot.com/) and various sites on Townhall.com, including: http://outsideofthebox.townhall.com, especially the article called "The White Queen").

Later this month, I'll be on Doug Gibbs's "Political Pistachio" radio program from California. I will be asking supporters of all Republican presidential candidates to use their influence to get Sarah on the ticket. The goal is to WIN the 2008 election.

We are approaching Republicans with national followings and asking them to endorse Sarah for the GOP ticket. There's a growing probability that, at some point, this remarkable young woman will be President of the United States.

The palinforvp site is operated by a person I regard as the best young political operative in the country. One other person is currently working full-time on this effort -- I plead guilty to being that person -- and many others are devoting big chunks of their lives to this endeavor.

There's a remarkable story unfolding here . . .

Here's today's (Saturday's) comment in http://palinforvp.blogspot.com/ :

Fred Barnes of the Weekly Standard devoted his entire column in this weeks issue to heaping praise on Sarah Palin. (Click here to read) Referring to her as "the GOP's newest star", Barnes did everything except come right out and say that the woman should be drafted for national office ASAP (though I kind of got that vibe from his subtext).

Here's my favorite passage. I think it illustrates in very blunt terms why Palin could be a major force on the national scene: "In the roughly three years since she quit as the state's chief regulator of the oil industry, Palin has crushed the Republican hierarchy (virtually all male) and nearly every other foe or critic. Political analysts in Alaska refer to the 'body count' of Palin's rivals."

Yes, the analogy is a little morbid, but the point is a good one. Standing in Sarah Palin's way is political suicide, and you'll have to forgive me for wishing that fate on the 2008 Democratic ticket.

Also, check out the remarkable new blog devoted to Sarah. It's called Palintology and here's how to find it: http://palintology.com/

good article, informative, looking forward to having you on my radio show in 3 weeks. And having a blog roll is a good thing (even if it is simply a list of your favorite sites). God Bless.
