Palin: Defeating Obama in 2012

I love this particular blog. It was my first, and it was the one where I broke the news, very early on Aug. 20, 2008, that Sarah Heath Palin would be John McCain's choice for the V-P nomination. (Read below.)

Is this the woman that will derail Obama's effort to be a two-term President? One hopes so.

This particular blog came to an end after the election of Nov. 4, 2008, but I now am blogging regularly at two sites: http://draftpalin2012.blogspot.com/ and http://stevemaloneygop.blogspot.com/.

Until Jan. 20, 2009 (Inauguration Day, I'll be cross-posting pieces at those two sites. Beginning with the presidency of President Barack Hussein Obama the columns on stevemaloneygop will deal with the Obama Administration. There will be approximately four columns per week, sometime more.

On the DraftPalin2012, I will be writing approximately five-six times per week. Almost all the columns will deal with Gov. Sarah Palin and her historic candidacy for the U.S. presidency. Yes, as the saying goes, "She's in it to win it."

I hope you'll all visit both sites regularly. Thanks for stopping by!http://draftpalin2012.blogspot.com

Sarah Palin: Mom, Pit Bull

If you ever wondered what Sarah Palin's most ferocious advocate -- moi! -- sounded and looked like, well scroll down (and down and down to the KDKA link.

Below is the link to the KDKA web TV program I participated in tonight (last night). I loved the opportunity to point out what a liar Barack H. Obama is -- and to document it with specifics. I also talked about the reign of terror against my friend (and honorary adopted daughter) Cristi Adkins. I appreciated the chance to highlight the unmentionable, the racism associated with the Obama Campaign and the intimidation directed against Black McCain-Palin supporters. I also explained why I believe Michelle Obama is not fit to be First Lady (or Tenth Lady) of the U.S.

Finally, I discussed why the Palin Family may be unique in the history of American presidential politics (they AREN'T RICH!), and why the media might consider changing its idiotic "narrative" about the Palins.

A good time, in short, was had by me.

Here is the link to the webcast/chat from 9/2: http://kdka.com/video/?id=45751@kdka.dayport.com

On FOX News the other day Fred Thompson was talking to some "journalists" who were lamenting the supposed inexperience of Gov. Palin. Thompson said, "Experience, harumph. Let me tell you this: you don't get experience sitting in a seat over in the Senate. And you don't get experience by going on the Sunday talk shows."

I noted that if being a mother and of modest means were disqualifications for running for high office, that would knock out about 270 million Americans of the "anybody can grow up to the president" sweepstakes. Ah, sexism, and we wondered if it would end with Hillary Clinton. It didn't.

On the KDKA link, you will hear me cite Fred Thompson. You'll also hear me say something like the following about liberal complaints that Sarah is "shrill" and "inexprienced." I said "shrill" is a codeword for "a female voice." And I said "inxperience" is a codeword for "she's a woman." Having five daughters and several grand-daughters, that made me feel very good.

I added that I believe that the Democatic Party has no real place for or respect for a rwoman who isn't a robotic ideologue (e.g., Nancy Pelosi, Donna Brazille). Granted, they will always have a place for women who are easily intimidated.

"The U.S. IS ready for a Black President. It is ready for . . . Michael Steele."

"Vote McCain, not Hussein"

I'm delighted that hundreds of people every day -- sometimes more -- read my blogs (listed at the bottom of this piece). Currently, I'm "managing" a critically important group, NoBama Mission Bloggers. The blogroll (see the sidebar) continues to grow, and right now there are 150-plus blog.

My goal, a very ambitious one, is to get to 300 by mid-September. That will be a "critical mass" which will allow us to improve our Google and Technorati "rankings" and begin to have a real influence on the election. What if you want to establish a blog (or two, or three), but don't know how to do so? What I'd suggest is that you click on the following link: http://mccainbloggerresources.blogspot.com/2008/03/how-to-create-pro-mccain-blog.html

It's a piece by blogging expert Kathy Morrison, a person who does web pages for a living, and it's all you'll need to establish your own blog. Also, if you want to get people -- and eventually, a lot of people -- to visit your blog, e-mail me at: TalkTop65@aol.com. I'll send you material that shows how to use key words to help people find and visit your blog. And, of course, when you establish a blog, you can join NoBama Mission Bloggers

As the weekend goes on, I'll write more about the role bloggers and other onliners can play in helping ensure that the next POTUS is NOT named Barack Hussein Obama. In political activity, it turns out that it's both WHO you know -- and HOW MANY people you know. (Hint: have a real long e-mail address list.)

McCain, not Hussein, HS Howlers

I received the following message from a person (don't know name, but must find it out) at http://www.hillaryisourchoice.com/: "She" is joining NoBama Mission Bloggers. Her site is: http://hillaryisourchoice.com/ [Note: Take a short break from politics and scroll down to read the posting on "High School Howlers." They're priceless]

She adds, "I also have a very extensive email list..so let me know when you want a mass mailing. Thanks."We need the names (first name is okay) and e-mail addresses of people like this. I told her that the mailing list is "golden." If this person has 50 (or 100 -- or 500 -- or 5000) on the her list, she can ask people to join her in opposing the election of Barack H. Obama.

If friends, family members, and other connections realize this person is opposing Obama -- for some compelling reasons -- it will influence how they vote. The reasons for opposing Obama? That he is unqualified (no foreign policy or military experience), inexperienced (half a term in the U.S. Senate, most of it spent on the campaign trail), too untrustworthy (telling false stories about his life and "accomplishments"), and too dangerous (suggesting that the U.S. might "reinvade" Iraq and that we might invade Pakistan, an ally and one with nuclear bombs). This message (inexperienced, unqualified, untrustworthy, and dangerous) works to create doubts about -- and opposition to -- Obama.

What about positives regarding Obama's opponent who, in the General Election, would be John McCain? That time will come (soon), and the positives are the opposite of Obama's deficiencies. McCain is qualified, experienced, honest, and NOT dangerous.

He is right on critical issues (such as producing more domestic energy and thus helping keep prices down) where Obama is just plain wrong. Rather than having to invent imaginary "uncles" with bogus military "accomplishments," McCain (and his father and grandfather) achieved exemplary records of military service and foreign policy knowledge.

The key is to contact people who will in turn contact others. The goal is to send out messages that have a cascading effect. If someone sends out 60 "NoBama" messages to people who in turn send out 60 messages (some will send more, some will send fewer), then there are 3600 contacts. If each of the 3600 new contacts send out 60 messages, we're up around 200,000. If the 200,000 send out another 60 e-mails, then we're up around 12 million. And if the 12 million in turn send out, then the total contacts could exceed the population of the U.S.!

Of course, it won't be exactly that easy. It will necessary to urge people to contact everyone they can -- face-to-face, over the phone, or through the Internet -- in order to ensure victory in November. The point to get across to people like "hillaryisourchoice" is that "somebody else" is not going to do the job of making important contacts about the need to defeat Obama. You and I, along with everyone else in the NoBama Movement, must do the things -- make the contacts -- necessary to win the Nov. 4 election.

Within a day or so, you will be able to find NoBama fliers at: http://clintons4mccain.com/. What if you don't like something in the fliers made available? In that case, use the fliers as a model -- and create your own. This is largely a "do-it-yourself" effort.

Winning the Nov. 4 election is crucail to achieving the other changes many people want, such as reforming BOTH political candidates and ensuring that future candidates don't come with the liabilities of a Barack Obama. Right now, we have a Congress controlled by Nancy Pelosi, one of the main villains who torpedoed the campaign of Hillary Clinton. That Congress, rather than dealing with sky-high energy prices, has now gone on vacation for five weeks! The lack of concern for the American public is appalling.

We can do better. We MUST do better.

Funny metaphors used in high school essays

Just in case you need some writing inspiration. Every year, English teachers from across the USA can submit their collections of actual analogies and metaphors found in high school essays. These excerpts are published each year to the amusement of teachers across the country. Here are last year’s winners:
1. Her face was a perfect oval, like a circle that had its two sides gently compressed by a Thigh Master.
2. His thoughts tumbled in his head, making and breaking alliances like underpants in a dryer without Cling Free.
3. He spoke with the wisdom that can only come from experience, like a guy who went blind because he looked at a solar eclipse without one of those boxes with a pinhole in it and now goes around the country speaking at high schools about the dangers of looking at a solar eclipse without one of those boxes with a pinhole in it.
4. She grew on him like she was a colony of E. coli, and he was room temperature Canadian beef.
5. She had a deep, throaty, genuine laugh, like that sound a dog makes just before it throws up.
6. Her vocabulary was as bad as, like, whatever.
7. He was as tall as a six-foot, three-inch tree.
8. The revelation that his marriage of 30 years had disintegrated because of his wife’s infidelity came as a rude shock, like a surcharge at a formerly surcharge-free ATM machine.
9. The little boat gently drifted across the pond exactly the way a bowling ball wouldn’t.
10. McBride fell 12 stories, hitting the pavement like a Hefty bag filled with vegetable soup.
11. From the attic came an unearthly howl. The whole scene had an eerie, surreal quality, like when you’re on vacation in anothercity and Jeopardy comes on at 7:00 p.m. instead of 7:30
12. Her hair glistened in the rain like a nose hair after a sneeze.
13. The hailstones leaped from the pavement, just like maggots when you fry them in hot grease. 14. Long separated by cruel fate, the star-crossed lovers raced across the grassy field toward each other like two freight trains, one having left Cleveland at 6:36 p.m. traveling at 55 mph, the other from Topeka at 4:19 p.m. at a speed of 35 mph.
15. They lived in a typical suburban neighborhood with picket fences that resembled Nancy Kerrigan’s teeth.
16. John and Mary had never met. They were like two hummingbirds who had also never met.
17. He fell for her like his heart was a mob informant, and she was the East River.
18. Even in his last years, Granddad had a mind like a steel trap, only one that had been left out so long, it had rusted shut.
19. Shots rang out, as shots are wont to do.
20. The plan was simple, like my brother-in-law Phil. But unlike Phil, this plan just might work.
21. The young fighter had a hungry look, the kind you get from not eating for a while.
22. He was as lame as a duck. Not the metaphorical lame duck, either, but a real duck that was actually lame, maybe from stepping on a land mine or something.
23. The ballerina rose gracefully en Pointe and extended one slender leg behind her, like a dog at a fire hydrant.
24. It was an American tradition, like fathers chasing kids around with power tools.
25. He was deeply in love. When she spoke, he thought he heard bells, as if she were a garbage truck backing up.

Obama's Money v. McCain's Character

McCain-Hillary image from www.johnmccain.com. Hallelujah!

Major Bulletin from PUMAPAC to McCain Supporters. PUMA, recently re-dubbed "Party Unity My Ass" (originally "People United Means Action") needs your support and your money. http://politicallydrunk.blogspot.com/
Sunday, June 29, 2008
"Why Obama & Dean Fear 4 Million!"

"The fear that the PUMA community and their silent supporters will realize the power of their fundraising. If just half of those 4 million who do not support Obama were to immediately give $10 to both the McCain campaign and PumaPac, the influx of cash would spread the Puma message like a wildfire through the media while providing the McCain campaign with the extra resources they need to overcome the wealthy who have funded 60% of Obama's campaign. If the just half of this 4 million were to contribute the media would be forced to question a campaign that they have more often referred to as a "movement", than as the "political campaign" it is."--J. Brown, June 29, 2008, Politically Drunk on Power. I have given my $10 to both. Please do the same.

"The content of his character . . ." (phrase from Martin Luther King)

Obamaphiles love playing the "race card" any time they run into someone who supports John McCain. Especially when it's Hillary Clinton supporters who now do. They insist that since "Hillary and Obama's policies are nearly the same," there MUST be discrimination and racism involved.

They never consider that it's not the color of the skin -- it's the content of character, of which Barack Hussein Obama has none.

This insistent, shallow view they have comes from simple blame-shifting in advance. They've already created their ready-made excuse for when their Anointed One gets wiped out in November. There's a history of this, going all the way back to 1980 really, where the DNC will put out its advance talking points for "why we lost" well in advance of the general election.

We've heard them all, they blame-shift each time. They blame the people for just being "uneducated," they blame evangelicals, they blame "biased media," they blame "the rich" they blame "big business" they blame "vote fraud" they blame "right-wing talk radio" they blame "faux news." They make all these excuses in advance, so they can later say these excuses with a straight face and get you to believe them.

This time? The excuse in advance for Obama losing is "racism."

It's never about ideas, it's never really about "change," it's never about the fact that the PEOPLE simply reject extremist leftist socialism. It's always about blame shifting and total lack of ideas and total disconnect with intelligent Americans. It's about good old fashioned Nazi-style propaganda. They say things like, "we just didn't get our message out"; well, YES YOU DID!!

That's the whole PROBLEM! You got your "message" out, and the people REJECTED it!

They can NEVER say things like, "the people just didn't trust our candidate" or, "our agenda was too far leftist for Americans." They have to blame "gun-toting bible-thumpers" and "bitter people" and in this case, definitely "racism" is the big club, the ace in the hole for ObamaBots and Obamaphiles.

They can't, never have, and never will tell the truth about why they lost, just like their candidates can never really tell the truth about what they stand for -- because Americans simply won't eat that can of corn.

Note: This piece is reprinted from Clintons for McCain, an important group founded by Cristi Adkins, Peter Boykin, and Anne M. Franklin, all originally supporters of Hillary Clinton. I urge you to join this group, which you can do by going to: http://clintons4mccain.com/.

Beginning Monday afternoon, I'll launch a series called, "My Life Among the Clintonistas." It will be about my dialogue -- and my arguments -- with Hillary Clinton Supporters who aren't certain what to do next.

"Gamecock's" Despicable Comments on McCain

Recently, I strongly recommended John Hawkins' fine column on Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton, available at: http://www.theforgottenstreet.com/. I'd also like to recommend Christopher Wensley's excellent piece on Hillary Clinton ("Losing It") at: http://youngrepublican.townhall.com/.

The following is a line about John McCain in Michael Barone's superb The Almanac of American Politics, 2008: "It appears to be his view that members of Congress, like members of the military, should serve the national interest honorably and without reference to political considerations. Linked to that is his opposition to what he considers pork barrel spending, which provides him plenty of material for his self-deprecating jokes about how unpopular he is with many colleagues." (p. 95)

"Gamecock" on Red State, a Fred Thompson or Mitt Romney supporter, sent me the following yesterday: "704-779-9080 . . . give me your best shot to switch to McCain." (I had told him that it looked as if Thompson would finish fourth in the SC Primary.)

I called "Gamecock" this morning (Thursday), and it was one of the more unsatisfactory "conversations" I've ever had. He wouldn't let me get a word in edgewise. He sang the praises of Fred Thompson (or, alternatively, Mr. Mega-Bucks, Mitt Romney). He denounced McCain at every turn.

He said that we should give no credit to McCain's being tortured for five-plus years in a Vietnamese prison. After all, as he put it, "Some of the men in those prisons might have come back and murdered somebody." I couldn't tell if he was serious, or even might be darkly implying that McCain had "offed" someone. It would be in keeping with his general comments about the Senator.

He condemned McCain for comments made in 2000 in the SC Primary. In that primary, McCain haters sent out many mailings saying, "McCain has a Black illegitimate daughter." McCain does have a dark-skinned daughter. She's not African-American, but is rather an adopted child from Bangla Desh. She appeared this year at a McCain rally, at least in part to dispel the lies told about him in Gamecock's beloved SC.

This year, McCain opponents are engaging in "push polling," which refers to people calling voters pretend to be pollsters. Among other things, they're saying that McCain is "pro-abortion." In fact, McCain has been staunchly pro-life for all his 24 years in public life. He has been the most consistent of all Republican candidates on this issue.

What Gamecock thinks about the lies and innuendos isn't clear. He appears to have the traditional Southern view -- and I lived in the Deep South for many years -- that all's fair in love, war, and politics. He gave me no reasons for his supporting Thompson and Romney.

I asked him what "Fred" and "Mitt" were doing while McCain, an authentic American hero to most of our fellow citizens, was rotting away in a Vietnamese torture chamber. He didn't seem to regard that question as relevant.

He admitted that McCain was "right" on the need for the Iraq Surge. However, he said that McCain had been wrong "five times" on Iraq issues. He didn't note what those five instances had been.

In my view, Gamecock is a classic supporter of Fred Thompson, known far-and-wide as the laziest man in politics. Why he wanted me to waste my time calling him is a question I'll never get answered.

My assumption is that Gamecock is deeply embedded in the racialist politics that has dogged South Carolina for generations. He sees McCain's failure to pander to the bigots at Bob Jones University and other fever swamps in the state as a failing. He should be ashamed of himself, but shame is not his strong suit.

He condemned McCain for "changing" his position on the Confederate Flag that used to fly above the SC Capital. In fact, McCain has said not opposing the Flag was his worst political decision. On CBS News, he said it was an "act of cowardice" on his part. Somehow, that kind of extreme candor doesn't impress the flag-loving Gamecock.

Anyways, I explained to "Gamecock" that McCain neither wants nor needs the support of people like him. I asked him whether he had any "character." In response, he chuckled.

My Thoughts on Obama-Clinton:

I said on a recent Eric Dondero radio show (day before NH Primary) that Mrs. Clinton's tearing up would help her rather than hurt. The others on the show were quite amazed at my statement, which turned out to be true. I agree that states with significant Black populations (SC & FL) are made to order for Obama. Winning a primary drains strength (not all strength, but some) from other candidates. I also believe he'll win SC & FL. I expect the Clintons, particularly Bill, to get nastier and nastier. I think Obama's long-ago drug use will rear its head again. I predict Mrs. Clinton will somehow cast herself not just as the female candidate, but as the Caucasian candidate. It's a blood sport for the Clintons, and if they lose they will want to take down Obama with them. They won't succeed, but they will sure try. I have a slight (key word) Lee Atwater streak in me, and I sometimes enjoy people tearing each other apart. Sarah Palin is so removed from that world (although she loves to win) that she seems like a different species. Yes, Barack Obama is starting to look a lot like the next President of the U.S.

WHAT REALLY HAPPENED IN IOWA

If any of you are visiting from Eric Dondero's libertarian radio program, this is my main site. Currently, I also cross-post at: http://stevemaloneygop.blogspot.com.

"Life is a terrible teacher. First, it gives you the test -- and only then teaches you the lesson." (Anonymous)

NOTE: I'm going to wait until the organizational "dust" settles in the Russell Campaign before I write about it again. I'm going to spend the month of January writing about several other campaigns that I believe are extremely important, including Melissa Hart's effort to regain her congressional seat in PA's 4th District (where I live).

The following is an e-mail I wrote to several conservative and/or Republican members of Yahoo Groups. I am a very strong advocate of involving conservative and moderate younger people (the "Children's Crusade") in campaigns to elect Republicans.

I wrote awhile back to a couple of Yahoo Groups stating my strong disagreement with the gentleman who observed that Young People (17-30) aren't very important in politics, etc., etc.

To me, that was a classic example of a know-everything who knows nothing. In Iowa, Obama won a smashing victory with 57% of the young (Democratic) voters.

In the campaigns I'm working on -- especially Melissa Hart's effort -- I intend to seek out every conservative or moderate young person I can. I've used that approach in the past, and I see no reason not to repeat it. We cranky (mostly older) conservatives don't like dealing with young voters, so we pretend they don't exist.

Obama did not suffer from that illusion. He recognized that young people going to college in Iowa (including out-of-staters) were a key to victory. He got thousands of college students to return EARLY to campus and vote in the caucuses. And he won big.

Apparently, we Republican conservatives aren't that bright. We write off one group after another (Blacks, Hispanics, young people, female professionals) and expect somehow that our ideological fervor will save the day. It won't.

Immigration was a big issue with the relatively small number of Republicans who caucused. It was not a big issue with the huge number of Democrats who participated. The tremendous Democratic turnout in Iowa (239,000!) is an ominous development. Iowa is a swing-state, and guess which way it's swinging?

The results in 2008 could make the 2006 disaster look like the good old days.

Huckabee? He carried a large portion of the heavy evangelical vote in Iowa. I don't really have a lot else to say about it. Obama received more than twice as many votes as Huckabees.

I don't believe Huckabee has any chance of launching a national strategy to win in a general election. Evangelicals are a mere one-third of the people who call themselves Republicans.

I foresee a vote for Huckabee in a presidential election of about 35%. That kind of poor performance would cost Republicans many, many seats in Congress.

HUMAN LIFE PROPOSAL -- Plus a Dim View of Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama

IMPORTANT NOTICE: http://larryperrault.blogspot.com/ prints today (Tuesday) a letter by Lutheran Church (Missouri Synod -- the far right branch of Lutheranism) leader Dr. Laurence White (Houston) regarding abortion. I wrote a vigorous dissent on Larry's site, because I believe Dr. White is little more than a member of the pro-life "enterprise," rather than a person seriously involved in protecting the sanctity of life at all stages, from conception to natural death. Tomorrow, I'm going to propose a constitutional amendment on life -- one forbidding most abortions, those that occur in the second and third-trimester of pregnancy -- that has a decent chance of passing. This will be not be the imaginary "amendment" favored by some presidential candidates -- an amendment that has zero chance of ever passing. Instead, my amendment proposal will be one supported by the vast majority of Americans. I also support federal AND state legislation mandating the expenditure of money and the providing of counselling in order to encourage adoption. It's frankly immoral to approach the issue of abortion in such a way that it never gets resolved in a decent, humane way in keeping with the Bible (which doesn't say much about the issue, except perhaps for a few passages in Exodus) and the English Common Law that guided the Founding Fathers who wrote the U.S. Constitiuion. I hope at some point leading candidates for the Republican nomination -- including Rudy Giuliani, Mike Huckabee, Mitt Romney, John McCain, and Duncan Hunter -- embrace a proposal something like mine. Ending legal abortion in the U.S. is part of a process, and it's time to begin it now!

Note: At the end of this piece I note what's going on at an important blog: http://outsideofthebox.townhall.com/

"Secretary Donald Rumsfeld flat-out refused to leave the building [Pentagon on 9/11]." -- Barbara Starr today on CNN

"The object of life is not to be on the side of the majority, but to escape finding one's self in the ranks of the insane." - - Marcus Aurelius

September 11: This is an important day in the history of the United States of America. "Time can never fully dull the pain," as Defense Secretary Robert Gates said this morning. Over the course of today and tomorrow, I'd like to share some of the memories that I have of that day and the ones that followed.

However, I'd first like to focus on the two main Democratic candidates: Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barack Hussein Obama. Granted, I've said some positive words about both of them, but here's the bottom line: I don't have much respect for either of them.

My image of Mrs. Clinton, who may very well be my President and yours, is of her making a statement that was shrill, cruel, and demagogic: "THIS IS GEORGE BUSH'S WAR!"

Oh, really?

Hillary Clinton voted to authorize the use of force in Iraq, a country ruled by a bloodthirsty tyrant who had killed millions of people, launched two awful wars, and had a history of providing sanctuary to terrorists and using weapons of mass destruction. Mrs. Clinton voted as a result of the same intelligence information provided to George W. Bush.

In the United States, as Mrs. Clinton should know, when the President launches a military action, it is not HIS war, but rather OURS.

It's OUR war because we have a sacred responsibility to the men and women who are fighting it. It's OUR war because winning it affects the country's ability to function effectively. It's OUR war because we must refrain from statements that help the enemy. It's OUR war because comments made about it on purely political grounds are immoral.

In recent times, Senator John McCain said that there are consequences connected with the Iraq War that transcend his ability to become President. His point was that what happens to John McCain is a lot less important than what happens to our country.

Does Mrs. Clinton love her country? I have no firm sense of what the word "country" means to her. To people like John McCain, war hero, our nation means not less than everything.

However, if Mrs. Clinton believes the country has any more important duty than electing her President, she needs to let us know. Does she really believe Iraq is "George Bush's war" -- as opposed to the war of those fighting and dying in it? I don't know if such questions are relevant to "that woman," to take a phrase from her husband.

This is (mainly) a "warrior nation," as former Senator Moynihan called us. Gen. David Petraeus and Ambassador Crocker, testifying to a Senate loaded with people focused almost exclusively on the next election, represent that warrior nation. I'm a member of it, and so are most of you.

In contrast, Mrs. Clinton inhabits a nation that consists mainly of one person -- herself. She would no more fight and die for this country than she would convert to Republicanism. She may well become President, but she doesn't deserve it.

As for Senator Obama, my new correspondent Ancient Mariner -- a naval veteran -- is leaning toward voting for him. I ask the Mariner to think back to the early Democratic debate, where Obama confronted the question of what he, as President, would do if he heard that terrorists had HIT (with weapons of mass destruction?) two American cities.

He said he would launch an investigation of the intelligence services to determine who was responsible. As I put it, perhaps uncharitably but I believe accurately, he would conduct a witch hunt.

Would he respond militarily to such a terrorist atrocity? He didn't indicate that he would.

I fear that the world Barack Obama inhabits is one that reflects the Democratic bias to conduct endless, after-the-fact Senate and House hearings. It's not a world where the President devotes himself to PREVENTING attacks. It's not a world where the chief-executive takes personal responsibility for the bad things that happen on his watch.

Also, The Economist recently raised questions about Obama's comment that he would seek to impose "fines" on mortgage companies that had engaged in unwise lending practices. As The Economist noted, imposing heavy fines on mortgage companies short of cash and laying off workers would be extremely unwise.

What do I think of Obama's proposal that, under certain circumstances, we might invade Pakistan, an ally -- and one with nuclear weapons? I believe it borders on the preposterous. Let's see, the anti-war guy wants to invade Pakistan? It's senseless.

As readers of this column know, I'm often critical of (some) Republicans, (some) conservatives, and (some) evangelicals. However, I'm much more concerned about the Democratic candidates. Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama continue to make statements that raise questions about whether they're really ready to govern this country.

After 9/11, politics as usual -- iresponsible remarks about "George Bush's War" and speculations about invading allies -- is not acceptable. If Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama believe they are ready to hold the nation's highest office, they need to apply -- soon -- for membership in the Warrior Nation. They need to stop the political pandering and demagoguery -- now.

Note: This column is dedicated to Peter Paul Domiano, Industry, NY, 1st Lt. USMC, and Thomas Cartwright, Industry, NY, Captain, USMC, my friends, both of whom died for their beloved country in Viet Nam. Peter, a graduate of the University of Virginia, was the manager of our (very good) high school basketball team and brother of my classmate, Judy Domiano; Thomas. a graduate of Penn State University, was the brother of our class valedictorian, Richard, and a fellow basketball player at Rush-Henrietta H.S. At one point, Industry, NY, near Rush and Henrietta, NY, was the town with the highest per capita number of soldiers killed in action. "Time goes on, but some memories never fade." I'd also like to salute two other Marines, young ones, named Matt Franchik and Adam Giran, both very much alive (thank the Lord) & both outstanding football players on a "national powerhouse" in high school, and residents of Mt. Lebanon, PA. "Oh traveler, tell the Spartans we lie here obedient to their word." When compared to Senators Clinton and Obama, the superb human beings I've mentioned here might as well be from another planet.

Sanity Anyone? PLEASE CHECK OUT SANITY102'S BLOG (http://outsideofthebox.townhall.com/ ), ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT ONES ONLINE. In recent days, she's done so wonderful columns. Note also Jim's comment there that the term "conservative" increasingly seems synonymous with "extreme right-wing bigots."

Here's a response I made to her recent writings: I agree with Jim, and I now avoid using the word "conservative." Increasingly, it refers to people loaded with malice and devoid of love or understanding.

Sanity, you are one of the most thoughtful people online. I believe the country faces a serious question of what we are to do with Moveon.org types (who did the recent Petraeus smear). You raise the "right" to abortion, which no Founder ever foresaw as somehow a "right."

The Constitution now provides other "freedoms" that the Founders never envisioned. Does anyone ever seriously believe that the Founders believed that "nude dancing" -- or things a whole lot worse than nude dancing -- constituted speech? In writing the Second Amendment did the Founders really mean that inner-city teens should all have a personal assault rifle -- something inconceivable in the 18th century -- to kill each other and police? They would be absolutely appalled. The U.S. has now become "Murder Central" for the civilized world, and that's something we can't tolerate.

If freedom of speech (and press) is a license to print things like "Petraeus or Betray Us," then it is a luxury we can't afford. We need to discuss these issues seriously rather than fantasize that the Founders would have been foursquare behind sleaze-bags dropping F-bombs on TV and America-haters defaming distinguished generals. I am going to keep recommending your site to everyone whose attention I can get. As Justice Arthur Goldberg once stated, "The Constiution is NOT a suicide pact."
