I have just heard a radio commentator talk about Rita Hauser, the "Republican for Obama". I would like to pass the following on to the McCain campaign, though I do not wish it to be attributed to me, or - if posted and discussed - done so in any way that will enable anyone to identify me.
I grew up with Rita in a Jewish neighborhood in in [the New York area]. Everyone I knew was Jewish, with the exception of one boy who was Greek Orthodox. This continued through all my public school years.
Rita was a brilliant girl who lived a few blocks away, and with whom I was somewhat friendly. Wee were both in honors classes. She went on to win a Fulbright, and became an international lawyer, a full partner in a prestigious law firm, and the wife of Gus Hauser who was, I THINK, one of the founders of cable television.
We kept in touch periodically, and she was kind to me, even though she far outstripped me in both achievement and money.She came from a very poor family. Her father sold hot dogs [at a major league baseball field in the New York area].
One day, in our early adulthood not long after she married Gus, she told me she was a member of another religion. I THINK it was Jehovah's Witnesses. I fell down. Metaphorically.
She was born Rita Abrams. Everyone I knew then, and was in touch with afterward, knew her to be Jewish: although, to be fair, none of us ever discussed the subject. It was just assumed.
In our neighborhood, EVERYONE was a Jew. And if your name was Abrams, the conclusion was not irrational.
In fact, on learning this, I mentioned the revelation to another woman who was part my childhood crowd: "Not Jewish?" she said, amazed. "How could she be not Jewish? I never heard that."Neither did I; and so, much much later, when I discovered she supported the Palestinians, I was really surprised. (We have not been in touch nor spoken since then.)
The point: by the time I learned this, Rita was ascending the ladder of success and fortune in America where, in many times past - and, perhaps, even today - being Jewish is a hindrance to success.
So, to reach the top, you change "sides."
Her advocacy for Palestinians - and her trumpeted appearance for Obama - tells you exactly, and in no uncertain terms, the direction he's [probably] going to take in reversing American policy toward Israel.And it tells you about the credentials of people who find it expedient to be something other than what they would like you to believe.

Background: From CBS News' Michelle Levi: (WASHINGTON)- Barack Obama's campaign is jumping the fence lately, trying to attract voters that don't traditionally vote Democratic. This morning, the campaign rolled out a "Republicans for Obama" effort as former U.S. Rep. Jim Leach, R-Iowa, and Former Bush Foreign Policy Advisor Rita Hauser announced their support for Obama on a conference call. Also on the call was former GOP Sen. Lincoln Chafee of Rhode Island, who switched to the Democratic Party earlier this year to vote for Obama in his state's primary. Chafee said there are "thousands" of Republicans, "big shots and little shots," who will "weigh the choice" in candidates and "come around to vote for Obama in the election."

Three "Republicans" (In Name Only)--former Congressman Jim Leach, former U.S. Senator Lincoln Chafee, and Bush family friend Rita Hauser--are the leaders of "Republicans for Obama."But with Hauser at the forefront, they might as well call the group Lewinskys for Arafat. At least that has been the lifelong role of Rita Hauser, a virulently pro-P.L.O. fundraiser for George W. Bush.
I've followed this woman for many years, and it's of note that Obamaslobbering Wall Street Journal fabricator Amy Chozick, yet again, chose not to tell readers the truth. She mentions not a word of Rita Hauser's pro-P.L.O. activities and the millions the terrorist group paid her.

The most spot-on description of Rita Hauser is on Masada 2000 (with background music of "Who Let The Dogs Out?"), where she is a member of the Jewish S.H.I.T. (Self-Hating and/or Israel-Threatening Jews). Here's just a tad:
Her unsolicited meddling on behalf of the Jewish State led to the Oslo Peace Accords and the resulting murder of more than 1,400 Jews! But this lady is not through with Israel yet, in fact, not by a long shot.
On a Oct.14, 2003 C-SPAN2 speech, she told her audience, "It's a moral duty to speak out against Israel" followed by "The Oslo Process was the best thing that ever happened to Israel!" ... "a joyous moment."Read the rest.
According to the New York Sun, Hauser is the funder of the Edward Said chair at Columbia University occupied by the anti-Semitic, anti-Israel Rashid Khalidi who has harassed Jewish students (she likes him), and her law firm was the registered representative and lobbyist for the Palestinian Authority from the time it was still run by Yasser Arafat, her friend:
"I made a contribution," Ms. Hauser said, describing the chair's namesake, Professor Edward Said, as "a friend of mine. I admire him." As for the appointment of Mr. Khalidi to the position, Ms. Hauser said she was happy with his selection."I like him very much. He's a splendid guy, a Palestinian intellectual, a first-class choice, and I think everybody's pleased," she said.
Ms. Hauser declined to disclose how much her foundation donated to the Said chair. . . .Ms. Hauser's former law firm, Stroock & Stroock & Lavan, was registered with the Department of Justice as recently as 2001 as an agent for the Palestinian Authority.
If this is a "Republican" for Barack Obama, that should tell you something. And Barack Obama has a lot of questions to answer. We know he's anti-Israel and has surrounded himself with anti-Semites from the Nation of Islam and elsewhere. But since he's engaging in revisionist self-history and trying to pretend that's not true, someone ought to ask him whether he endorses the views of Rashid Khalidi, with whom he's had many connections and associations that have already been reported. He must answer yes or no, once and for all.
And if the answer is "no," then why is Rita Hauser the head of "Republicans for Obama"?
Today's New York Sun has a great editorial exposing the anti-Israel, pro-Arafat, pro-Iran conduct of all three of these so-called Republicans for Obama. Read it!

LLOYD MARCUS: BLACK CONSERVATIVE "CONFESSES"
I will be posting a new column later today (Tuesday, about 5 p.m.) but for now I want to keep featuring Lloyd Marcus' fascinating "Confessions" (scroll down a few lines). My next column will begin with the following quote from Martin Amis' wonderful book called Money: "My theory is -- we don't really go that far into other people, even when we think we do. We hardly ever go in and bring them out. We just stand at the jaws of the cave, and strike a match, and quickly ask if anybody's there." What I've been trying recently is to "bring out" the real Barack Obama -- particularly to determine why says one thing in his books and something very different in his speeches and commercials. Who is Barack Obama? And does he even know the answer to that question?

Here's a powerful autobiographical piece by an important Black conservative, Lloyd Marcus. Later today (Monday), I'll write below Lloyd's piece about how McCain must appeal to Black moderates and conservatives -- frankly, a huge group -- in his race for the presidency against Barack Obama. I met Lloyd on the Black Conservatives (Yahoo) Group. I urge everyone to join that group, whether you're a Black conservative or moderate or a supporter or that political group. I also urge people to back an allied group, The National Black Republicans Association. If John McCain can win 20% of the Black vote (rather than Republicans' usual 10%), he might carry 45 or more states in the general election.
A urine smell permeated the stairwell. In the darkness, due to smashed light bulbs, the sound of broken wine bottles underfoot echoed off the concrete walls. I was nine years old. With the elevators out of service half of the time due to vandalism, many times I was forced to take the scary trek into the shadow of death up the stairwell to our sixth floor apartment in the projects of East Baltimore.
This was a far cry from the brand spanking new building we moved into just two years earlier. I remember our excitement when my parents, three younger siblings and I moved in our apartment. It was a dream come true moving from our leaky roof ghetto into a place where everything including the appliances were new. We were one of the first in the eleven story all black residents building. While a few people kept their apartments lovely, most seemed committed to destroying the building.
All I kept hearing was that everything was the 'white man's fault'. Even at age nine, I sarcastically thought to myself, “how can we stop these evil white people from sneaking in here at night peeing in the stairwell, leaving broken wine bottles, smashing the light bulbs and attacking people?”.
My early experience living in the government project taught me that some folks simply have a ghetto mindset. I also witnessed the trap of government welfare. And why was so many around me angry and violent despite getting free housing, food and health care?
It was the late 50s when my dad was one of the first blacks to break the color barrier into the Baltimore Fire Dept. The sight of him in his crisp dress blue firefighter uniform made everyone proud, though none more than me. With dad's new job, the government raised our rent to $72. per month. I remember my dad saying, “Seventy-two dollars! They must be crazy. We're movin'!” We moved to a suburban black community. I truly believe I would not be who I am today had we stayed in the projects.
Several of my cousins stayed enslaved to the system and the bigotry of low expectations. Because true self esteem comes from personal achievement, they possessed very little. They lived angry and bitter lives consumed with serial impregnating, out of wedlock births and substance abuse. An outrageously high number died prematurely.
So when I hear politicians pandering to the so-called poor of America, it turns my stomach. I've witnessed the deterioration of the human spirit, wasted lives and suffering that happens when government becomes 'daddy'.

Pastor Wright's mentoring and advice to Obama can have policy effects that can damage the entire country, and possibly even damage the entire world.As for the excuse that Obama is "guilty by association", there is a simple way to fix that. Obama must disassociate, fully and completely and specifically regarding any anti-American policies or statements. No evasions, no weasel words, no equivocations, no moral equivalency.Unless, of course, Obama is only running for the Presidency of the angry blacks of America.It is an issue for many people, so it must be addressed. His choice.

Sarah Palin: You're Invited to a Key PA Political Reception

Although I've scaled back slightly my role in the effort to Draft Sarah Palin for V-P on the Republican ticket in 2008, I continue to believe she would be the best candidate in that role. However, given the fact that Republicans appear likely to lose big in 2008 -- as in lose the presidency, lose an additional 5-6 seats in the Senate, and drop an addition 10-12 seats in the House, Sarah needs to choose her steps wisely.
Given her tremendous record of accomplishment and her reputation for decency, honesty, and selflessness, Sarah has an excellent chance to become President of the U.S. It could happen in a race against Hillary Clinton in 2012, but it would be more likely to happen in 2016 -- perhaps in a race against someone like Barack Obama.
Right now, in 2007, the Republican Party is going through a sorting out process. The extreme segment of the evangelical wing of the GOP is seriously threatening to take its ball and stay away on election day -- if Mike Huckabee (a longshot) doesn't win the nomination. A candidate like Rudy Giuliani is very willing to bid bon voyage to the evangelical extremists, especially people like Dr. Laurence White who seemingly has a deep hatred of a pluralistic and diverse America.
Frankly, the Republican Party would be better off without such people. Their "my-way-or-the-highway" approach has an element of extreme creepiness. They have no understanding of what politics is: the building of coalitions between people who agree on most issues but disagree on some.
In the meantime, an extremely attractive candidate like Sarah should continue building her base of support. She should be making contact with the people who are the future of the Republican Party.
For example, Sarah should initiate discreet contacts with people who are backing her on the blogosphere. One of those people is Adam Brickley, who blogs at: http://palinforvp.blogspot.com/ There are many others, as illustrated on my blogroll. Cindy at http://thepinkflamingo.blogharbor/blog/ is going to play a role in who gets nominated and who gets elected.
Sarah should also be establishing connections with elected officials and others who can help in the future with organization and fund-raising. For example, it would be an excellent idea for her to attend an important meeting on October 3 just outside Pittsburgh, PA.
The Diana Lynn Irey Campaign Committee is having a session called "She [Diana] Means Business" on October 3, 2007. It will involve a roundtable discussion featuring Diana (who ran in 2006 against John Murtha), former Senator Rick Santorum, former Congresswoman (and an announced congressional candidate for 2008) Melissa Hart, and PA State Senator James Pippy.

Santorum, Irey, and Hart have national reputations. Hart was the first female elected to Congress from Pennsylvania, and she's a strong fundraiser. Santorum lost in 2006, but he raised $27 million in campaign contributions. Irey generated 7,000 campaign contributions -- 500 more than Murtha.
Hart and Santorum both occupied important leadership roles in Congress. When it comes to important Republicans, they know them all. Santorum served in Congress with John McCain, Fred Thompson, and Sam Brownback. He's also close to Rudy Giuliani, who campaigned hard for Rick in Pennsylvania.
As for State Senator James Pippy, he's an Iraq war veteran. He has great potential to become a future Governor or Senator in Pennsylvania.
These people -- all of them in their 40s -- are scrupulously honest. Their philosophical and political beliefs are not poll-driven. In fact, the political figure they most resemble -- in terms of honesty and sincerity -- is probably Sarah herself.
Yes, Alaska is a long way from western Pennsylvania. However, it would be a political stroke of genius for Sarah to attend this get-together if it's at all possible.
On the long road back to Republican political respectability, people like Rick, Diana, Melissa, and James will play crucial roles. They should all be helping each other in this effort. Specifically, they should be sharing lists of supporters and contributors.

Upon leaving the Air Force in 1989, Wilson became Director for European Defense Policy and Arms Control on the National Security Council. After leaving government, she founded Keystone International, Inc. in 1991 to promote business development in the United States and Russia. She is the former Secretary of the New Mexico Children, Youth and Family Department.
Wikipedia doesn't tell you the following, but Heather Wilson represents a district that is 43% Hispanic. In the past two elections, she's opposed -- and beaten -- extremely well-financed Hispanics, Richard Romero and Patricia Madrid. Rep,. Wilson is one of the best fund-raisers of any Republican candidate, and that's been a big factor in her electoral success. She's regularly accused of imaginary "wrongs" by the the Albuquerque daily newspaper and various Democrats.
Almost amazingly, she's the only female military veteran in the Congress. She's also a much-admired expert on national security issues. She is strongly against abortion, opposed to blanket amnesty for illegal immigrants, and against most tax increases -- all positions that explain some of the extreme hostility she gets from the far-left. Her political position is best described as center-right. She has an independent streak that appeals to voters in her district.
Heather is a remarkable woman and well-qualified to be any of the following: a U. S. Senator, a Vice-President, or a President. Anyone concerned about the future of the Republican Party should support -- and contribute financially to -- Heather Wilson.
Diana Lynn Irey (born 20 August 1962) serves as a County Commissioner of Washington County, Pennsylvania. She was first elected in 1995 and has been twice re-elected. She's currently running for another term.
Irey lives in Carroll Township, Pennsylvania, with her husband Robert and their three children. She is a 1981 graduate of West Virginia Business College. She was a Republican Congressional candidate running against Democratic Congressman John Murtha in the United States House election, 2006 in Pennsylvania's 12th congressional district.
In a district where Murtha usually wins by acclamation, Diana Irey garnered 80,000 votes. She received financial contributions from every state -- a total of 7,000 -- and raised nearly $900,000. Murtha received most of his contributions from the lobbyists in Maryland and Virginia and ended up with an eye-popping $3.5 million. In fact, he raised more money per vote than Hillary Clinton did in New York state. However, his total contributions were 6,500, 500 less than Diana.
Diana Irey built a strong national following among members of the military and their families. She received many small contributions from soldiers in Afghanistan and Iraq.
An evangelical Christian and a compassionate, caring person, Diana is dedicated to the U.S. winning the War on Terror, safeguarding U.S. borders, and simplifying the tax code. She's married and the mother of three children.

[Note on Heather A. Wilson: Aside from its first paragraph and one other, the Wikipedia biographical piece on Heather A. Wilson, a Republican congresswoman from Albuquerque, is mainly a malicious caricature. A more accurate view of Rep. Wilson is available in the analysis of her 2006 race in OpenSecrets.org.
Born in Keene, New Hampshire, Wilson joined the United States Air Force at the age of seventeen, graduating magna cum laude from the U.S. Air Force Academy in 1982. A Rhodes Scholar, she continued her education at Jesus College, Oxford University, earning a D.Phil.. in International Relations.
Upon leaving the Air Force in 1989, Wilson became Director for European Defense Policy and Arms Control on the National Security Council. After leaving government, she founded Keystone International, Inc. in 1991 to promote business development in the United States and Russia. She is the former Secretary of the New Mexico Children, Youth and Family Department.
Wikipedia doesn't tell you the following, but Heather Wilson represents a district that is 43% Hispanic. In the past two elections, she's opposed -- and beaten -- extremely well-financed Hispanics, Richard Romero and Patricia Madrid. Rep,. Wilson is one of the best fund-raisers of any Republican candidate, and that's been a big factor in her electoral success. She's regularly accused of imaginary "wrongs" by the the Albuquerque daily newspaper and various Democrats.
Almost amazingly, she's the only female military veteran in the Congress. She's also a much-admired expert on national security issues. She is strongly against abortion, opposed to blanket amnesty for illegal immigrants, and against most tax increases -- all positions that explain some of the extreme hostility she gets from the far-left. Her political position is best described as center-right. She has an independent streak that appeals to voters in her district.
Heather is a remarkable woman and well-qualified to be any of the following: a U. S. Senator, a Vice-President, or a President. Anyone concerned about the future of the Republican Party should support -- and contribute financially to -- Heather Wilson.
Diana Lynn Irey (born 20 August 1962) serves as a County Commissioner of Washington County, Pennsylvania. She was first elected in 1995 and has been twice re-elected. She's currently running for another term.
Irey lives in Carroll Township, Pennsylvania, with her husband Robert and their three children. She is a 1981 graduate of West Virginia Business College. She was a Republican Congressional candidate running against Democratic Congressman John Murtha in the United States House election, 2006 in Pennsylvania's 12th congressional district.
In a district where Murtha usually wins by acclamation, Diana Irey garnered 80,000 votes. She received financial contributions from every state -- a total of 7,000 -- and raised nearly $900,000. Murtha received most of his contributions from the lobbyists in Maryland and Virginia and ended up with an eye-popping $3.5 million. In fact, he raised more money per vote than Hillary Clinton did in New York state. However, his total contributions were 6,500, 500 less than Diana.
Diana Irey built a strong national following among members of the military and their families. She received many small contributions from soldiers in Afghanistan and Iraq.
An evangelical Christian and a compassionate, caring person, Diana is dedicated to the U.S. winning the War on Terror, safeguarding U.S. borders, and simplifying the tax code. She's married and the mother of three children.
